Short information about Matheran

Matheran has garnered a reputation of one of the most favourite hill-stations around Mumbai for some reasons. The bountiful rains, good greenery and waterfalls around. Garbett Plateau is located in the south – west direction of Matheran, offering a 360 degree view of one of our all time favourite hill stations. Matheran is Famous & splendid hill station in Maharashtra, it covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This Fantastic spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Garbett point is located on South-west side of Matheran with grand view of the plateau. Climate here is very cool with some breath taking views. Trek to Matheran via Garbett point will take you through the best of the views offered by nature.

Meeting Point: 23:15 @ Bhivpuri Road Station on Friday, 11th December Night.
We will be starting with the Karjat fast Local (time-table given below)

People may board the same Karjat train from the station of their convenience and meet us in the train directly. (Get into second coach from CST side) (Missing the train means missing the trek, So one needs to be on time)

From here we start our trek by 23:30 PM.
Reach the Garbett plateau in next 3 -4hrs.
Rest for some time.
Early morning explore the Garbett plateau.
Proceed to Garbett point and then to Dasturi point & Breakfast
If time permits we will try to cover any nearest point in Matheran (Optional)
(In such case if one wishes to enter Matheran he/she will have to pay entry fee. This fee will be separate and will have to be paid by the members.)
After Exploration Take Taxi till Neral station.
Reach Neral station till 12:00 noon.
Start our return journey.

  • Torch (Compulsory)
  • Some ready to eat food items.
  • Camera, Cap, Glares
  • Personal Care and Medicine those if you require usually.
  • Good trekking shoes (must)
  • A haversack to put in all the things to be carried. ( No sling bags/ jholas please)
    Avoid wearing gold ornaments.
